Looking after newly laid turf

Newly laid turf can look lovely and really transform a front or rear garden, but it does need to be well looked after especially in the early days. One of the main reasons you may find that your turf doesn’t take well is that it hasn’t been watered enough. You may be surprised actually how much water turf needs. Even if you have had some rain that day then you may still need to water it that night. If the soil that the new turf is to be laid on top is not great quality, then you should buy some top soil to put down before you lay your turf. This will help the grass to take.

Make sure you don’t order your turf until you are ready to lay it. It usually comes in rolls and can very quickly start to die if not laid down within a day or so. When choosing a company to buy your turf from, try and check how fresh it is when it is delivered. Often it will say how many days old it will be when delivered to your house. Read plenty of reviews for the company as this will help give you an idea as to the quality of the turf you can expect to receive.
