Summer is not the only time to enjoy a garden as many people find out when they take a few simple steps to give the outdoor space an autumn makeover.
Once the garden has been tidied, old plants have been thrown away and shrubs have been cut back look at the space and find a sheltered area that could be used for seating. As there are often sunny, bright but cool days in the autumn having a place to sit that is sheltered from any cool breezes is a great idea.
Outdoor heating of some sort is invaluable in the autumn months and will allow people to sit outside stargazing well into the night. With some cosy blankets to snuggle under either an electric or gas patio heater will provide some extra warmth on particularly chilly nights.
Mood lighting for the garden can make an ordinary garden space into a magical wonderland and although solar lighting will not continue to work long into the autumn as the sunny days become less and less electric lights can be used if there are outdoor electric sockets installed. Candles are not really suitable for autumn evenings as they will probably blow out quickly, but battery operated candles are a good alternative and give a lovely subtle light.
